Based on the announcement from the Legal Vice-Presidency of the President, the claim filed by Crescent Group against the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) regarding the damages incurred by third parties (companies contracted with Crescent) has been dismissed.
The Crescent Arbitration Court, in its ruling dated February 24, 2025, rejected Crescent’s claim and dismissed its request for the condemnation of NIOC to issue a declaratory judgment for its liability to pay billions of dollars in damages.
In this case, Crescent had claimed that NIOC was responsible for the damages inflicted on other companies. The claim amounted to several billion dollars. After the exchange of documents twice over a period of three years, and holding two hearing sessions along with the examination of opinions from both parties’ lawyers and independent experts, the court made this decision.
The court also dismissed Crescent’s other claim for the payment of all judicial damages related to this dispute.
This victory for NIOC is considered the most significant win for the company in the Crescent case since it began in 2009.
With the issuance of this ruling, and through the efforts of the Legal Affairs Organization of the Government, one of the most important cases brought against NIOC has been resolved in favor of the company.
