** Hajj al-Islam Kazem Sadeghi on Piety, the Straight Path, and National Duties**

The temporary Friday Prayer leader of Tehran, Hajj al-Islam Kazem Sadeghi, in his sermon on the 12th of Ordibehesht, emphasized the importance of piety, stating that it is a protective covering for humans, much like clothing protects the body. He explained that just as a naked body is vulnerable to harm, the absence of piety leaves one unprotected. Sadeghi highlighted that clothing is essential for social life, and similarly, piety is a garment that beautifies and shields a person.

He further elaborated on the significance of the word “Sirat” (the straight path) mentioned in the opening chapter of the Quran. Sadeghi said that the straight path is not a physical road but a spiritual journey towards God. He quoted the Quranic verse, “Guide us to the straight path,” explaining that this path is not material or physical but rather a spiritual one that leads to God. He added that places of worship, such as the Kaaba, Kerbala, Najaf, and the shrine of Imam Reza (AS), are not the only places where God is present, as God is omnipresent.

Sadeghi discussed the three stages of Islam: reason, virtue, and practical observance. He said that when a person aligns their life with divine commandments and has faith in the oneness of God, the prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH), and the guardianship of the Imams (AS), they are on the straight path. He emphasized that belief in the divine unity (Tawhid) is a spiritual matter, and when a person adheres to this belief, their soul becomes one with the divine, leading to a transformation in their character and actions.

He also spoke about the importance of moral virtues such as courage, eloquence, and justice, which are innate to the human soul. Sadeghi said that these virtues are not found in material places but are part of the human spirit. When a person is balanced and just, they become a true representative of God on Earth.

In his second sermon, Sadeghi urged the congregation to practice piety, emphasizing that it is the most valuable asset a person can take with them to the afterlife. He highlighted the significance of the month of Rajab, which is a month of divine grace, and the virtues of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS), particularly Fatima al-Zahra (AS). He described Fatima al-Zahra (AS) as a perfect reflection of divine virtues and a role model for all Muslims.

Sadeghi also addressed the recent explosion at Shahid Rajaei Port, expressing condolences to the families of the victims and praying for the injured. He called for national unity and cooperation in dealing with such tragedies and praised the resilience and solidarity of the Iranian people in times of crisis.

He emphasized the importance of education and the role of teachers in shaping the future of the country. Sadeghi called for a fundamental transformation in the education system to better align with the values of the Islamic Revolution and to focus on the practical and moral education of students. He highlighted the need to address the economic challenges faced by teachers and to recognize their invaluable contributions to society.

Finally, Sadeghi spoke about the significance of Labor Day, praising the role of workers in the economy and their contributions to the country’s development. He recalled the example of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Imam Ali (AS), who themselves engaged in manual labor, and urged all workers to strive for the independence and prosperity of the nation.
