ع Commander members of the education committee also focused this week on reviewing the proposal to strengthen the education and training system. According to Hussein Haghighi, the head of the education and training committee, the proposal emphasizes the eradication of illiteracy by the Ministry of Education, leveraging active and retired teachers nationwide. This means that the Ministry does not need to hire external educators to combat illiteracy but can use its existing workforce, including retired teachers and educators.
* Discussion of Questions Directed to Mideri
The social committee also addressed questions posed by several representatives to Ahmad Mideri, the Minister of Cooperatives, Labor, and Social Welfare. According to Fazel Rahbar, the secretary of this committee, the questions primarily centered around appointments within the ministry, the lack of investment and follow-up on projects related to Shasta Company, the suspension of some of its subsidiaries in various provinces, discussions about pension funds and supplementary insurance, and the reasons behind the allocation of the Kavehbergh electronic project to Farav Company and the unprofitability of some of Shasta’s subsidiaries.
Rahbar stated that the minister provided explanations regarding the main areas of questioning, and the representatives allowed the minister to provide additional documents to convince the representatives, after which a decision will be made.
* Government Urged to Predict Currency for Supporting the Publishing Industry
The education committee spokesperson, Rastinejad, also explained that during a meeting with officials from the book exhibition and industry activists, one of the main requests of publishers was the lack of currency allocation for importing essential materials for the printing and publishing industry, especially paper and advanced technology. The meeting emphasized that the government must take steps to predict the necessary currency to support the publishing and book industry.
* Review of Sina and Post Bank Performance in Parliament
Abdul Jalal Arya also described the civil construction committee’s meeting, stating that the performance of Sina Bank and Post Bank in implementing Article 4 of the Law on Housing Production Leap was reviewed with the attendance of relevant officials. Reports from the Housing and Urban Development Committee, the Court of Audit, and the Ministry of Roads showed that Sina Bank’s performance over the past three years was less than one-third of its commitments, while Post Bank had only implemented about 26% of its commitments. One of the main obstacles to implementing the law is the lack of cooperation from banks in providing facilities.
The spokesperson for the civil construction committee added that, as per the law, banks failing to meet their commitments are subject to financial penalties. Therefore, Sina Bank and Post Bank will be referred to the Tax Affairs Organization for penalties.
* Continued Examination of the Bill on Civil Society Organizations
The committee on councils also continued its review of the bill on civil society organizations. Mohammad Saleh Jokar, the head of this committee, detailed that the committee reviewed and approved Articles 1, 2, and 4 of the bill. These articles specify the composition of the Development Council and the Evaluation Council of civil society organizations.
Finally, Mohammad Taghi Neqadali, the deputy head of the judicial committee, explained that in this week’s meeting, the details of the referral of the dispute between the Export Development Bank of Iran and the Spitamanavil Tajikistan Company to arbitration were approved and will be referred to the public session.
